PRESIDENT

Talia Solovei (she/her)

Hello! My name is Talia Solovei, and I am honored to serve as this year’s FPTO President. I am a fourth-year Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy major from San Jose, CA, and have been part of the FPTO Executive Board since the second semester of my freshman year. My first introduction to physical therapy came at age five, when I watched my mom’s sessions through a window during Kindergarten recess. Later, as a competitive dancer, a series of injuries brought me into the clinic myself, where I discovered the meaningful intersection of movement and helping others. Now, I am excited to be transitioning to the other side of the patient--provider dynamic. FPTO has always provided me with a community of driven, passionate, and supportive peers, and I am excited to continue to foster this thoughtful culture while inspiring the next generation of future physical therapists!

VICE PRESIDENT

Sarah Iter (she/her)

Hi! My name is Sarah Iter and I am thrilled to be joining the FPTO Executive Board for a second year, but this time as Vice President! I was born and raised in San Diego and am a third year Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy student. I grew up being very active, participating in dance and gymnastics. These sports exposed me to the world of injuries, but also how complex and fragile the human body is. This sparked my curiosity about the field of physical therapy, which led me to partake in several clubs, volunteering and aide/tech roles that have only solidified my interests. FPTO has played one of the biggest roles in my college experience in preparing me for my future. It has provided me with resources, valuable connections and a supportive/welcoming community. My goal for this position is to give back to this amazing organization by helping my peers on their journey to PT school. I am so excited to take on the challenge of planning grad panel and cannot wait to see how it all pans out!

TREASURER

Amelia Bella (she/her)

Hello everyone, my name is Amelia Bella and I am the treasurer for FPTO this year! I am a fourth year Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy major from Roseville, California and have been part of FPTO since my sophomore year. My athletic background consists of playing soccer for over 15 years and running track in high school. Naturally, I ended up injured a multitude of times and had to go to physical therapy. After seeing the impact of rehab on myself and sharing it with others, I knew that this was the career path for me. Additionally, I am very involved in the deaf community and hope to one day become an advocate for equal access in the healthcare sector. FPTO has helped me grow in the physical therapy world and gain many opportunities on and off campus. I am looking forward to sharing everything that I have learned so far with all of our members and helping FPTO grow this year!

My hometown is just outside of Sacramento, CA, and I am a 4th year Kinesiology Pre-PT major with a minor in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurosciences. COMMUNITY SERVICE COORDINATOR

Jake Drew (he/him)

Hi! My name is Jake Drew, and I am from Walnut Creek, California. I am a third year kinesiology major with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy. I have been involved in FPTO since my freshman year, but this is the first year I am on the board. I became interested in physical therapy due to taking sports medicine in high school, and being a student trainer for the football team. For me, the most rewarding part of physical therapy is being able to see a patient restore and increase their mobility along their journey to recovery. In addition to FPTO, I am involved in APPHO, Flying Sams, and VAW Global Health Alliances. Outside of school, I enjoy playing sports such as golf, soccer, basketball, and frisbee, going to the beach, and traveling.

SOCIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR

Ashley Yu (she/her)

Hi! My name is Ashley Yu, I am from Salinas, California. I have been involved in FPTO since I was a freshman and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be serving as FPTO’s Social Events Coordinator this year! I am a third-year Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy student following a plan to graduate early. A value of mine that I’ve developed from playing basketball since I was eight years old, is leading by empowering the best in each individual. This has fostered my admiration of physical therapy for its ability to support an individual in improving their quality of life while guiding them closer to their personal health goals. Thereby, building rapport and camaraderie along the journey has always been important to me! In a similar way, FPTO has provided me with profound guidance, resources, connections, and opportunities to grow not only as a pre-physical therapy student but as a person. I am looking forward to being an extension of the values I’ve shared and reciprocating the support I’ve received in FPTO through our journey as future physical therapists!

FACULTY ADVISOR

Rosalia Arellano, PT, DPT, NCS

Hi there! My name is Rosalia Arellano, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as FPTO advisor for the past 8 years—a role that’s especially meaningful since I was also a member during my undergraduate years at SDSU. I was born and raised in El Centro, CA, and first discovered Physical Therapy while at Imperial Valley Community College. As an aide in an adaptive fitness class, my curiosity about the human body and passion for helping others move better led me to pursue this field.

I transferred to SDSU and earned my BS in Kinesiology (Pre-PT) in 1999, later completing my Master of Physical Therapy and Doctorate with a Neurologic Specialization. Over the years, I’ve worked across most PT settings and served as faculty for the SDSU DPT program from its inception through May 2025, teaching Clinical Communication, Foundations of PT Evaluation, and Adult Neurologic Rehabilitation and Therapeutics.

Currently, I work at a fitness-based clinic for people with neurologic conditions, where I also teach the PWR! Moves for Parkinson’s exercise class. In addition, I lecture part-time for SDSU’s Faculty Advancement and Student Success department in the transfer success program.

This club does a STELLAR job fostering a supportive, informative network for anyone interested in PT, and I HIGHLY encourage you to join!
